Dr. Dan, BScPharm, PharmD, CBE

I’ve lived my life wanting to contribute to something bigger than myself – find a community… A sense of belonging. My higher purpose is to help our communities – our families – feel healthier and live a better life. A life with less pain. Less medication. Give people the freedom, empower them, to live a life they truly enjoy.

Growing up, I was teased about weight. I was bullied and beaten. In my teen years, I learned that no one – NO ONE – should ever have to feel so awful, shameful about themselves. Now, I’m on a mission to inspire people to help EACH OTHER get healthier. Because it’s truly life-changing.

I am the founder of Healthcare Evolution and a clinical pharmacist based in Calgary, AB. In 2016 I graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy. Later in 2017, I received my Doctor of Pharmacy. Throughout my career, my passion for mental health, diabetes, and obesity management grew and I obtained designations as a Certified Bariatric Educator (CBE) and a Certified Diabetes Educator (CDE).

I have gone through my own Evolution (pun intended) of how I view Health. In my younger days I was more concerned with vanity, and health meant how I looked on the outside, whether I was fit or not. Exploring this road led me to compete in fitness competitions. Pushing my body to extremes gave me the look I wanted, but it also made me realize how unsustainable and unhealthy “healthy living” can be. It showed me the complexities of health, how connected everything is, and what appears to be healthy on the outside does not necessarily equate to healthy on the inside.

Nowadays, I seek sustainability in my health. It is about adopting positive changes I can maintain, it is nourishing my body not just with good food, or exercise but taking care of my emotional and mental health. This is so important, because the road to healthier living is not a sprint but a marathon; it is an ongoing relationship I have to nurture throughout my life.

My personal journey combined with my professional experience as a community pharmacist sparked an interest in lifestyle counselling and weight management. I obtained the designation as a Certified Bariatric Educator (CBE) in 2019. Then I became a co-founder of Healthcare Evolution, where I have the opportunity to pursue my genuine interest and passion in guiding others towards the evolution of their health.

Geoff Starling, CSCS

Doing more exercise feels like something we should all do, or at least what we’re told we should do. However gyms and the people in them can be intimidating, especially if you’re new or a bit out of practice. Let me be your guide through this alien environment.

For the past ten years, I have lived without a lung or stomach due to a medical event that should have taken my life. As a result, I have learned how intense our relationships are with food, energy and our bodies. The key to my life since then has been to embrace this as a gift; not only to live, but to thrive in spite of it.

I use strength training as a tool to provide people living in bodies of all sizes, ages and abilities the freedom to engage in the world the way they want to. It has been an important component of my physical and mental health strategy for decades. I can help you integrate it into yours in the same way.

Together, let’s discover what has been holding you back from reaching your health goals and what is going to move you forward. We can make regular exercise more than just a new chapter in your life but a whole new way of living. I am on a mission to make every body stronger, and that means you!

Chelsey Love, BSc, RD

Chelsey grew up on the East Coast where she completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Foods and Nutrition at the University of Prince Edward Island. She then completed a 1 year dietetic internship program in Edmonton, Alberta, and now she is proud to call Calgary home. She’s a Registered Dietitian under the College of Dietitians of Alberta, and a member of Dietitians of Canada.

Chelsey’s nutrition ‘style’ is simple, realistic, fun, and sustainable. She promotes real food from your market or grocery store – no gimmicks, fad diets, or restrictive eating. She firmly believes that healthy eating should also be enjoyable, so you can continue your healthy lifestyle…for life.

Chelsey’s favourite “job” is Mom to her 1-year old daughter. She loves spending time outdoors, hitting a spin or yoga class, skiing, watching hockey & basketball, and just relaxing at home with her husband and a cold beer. She has run 8 half marathon races to date, and plans to do a full someday. Chelsey lost her father, suddenly in 2013 from cardiac arrest, which is one of the reasons heart health is a huge passion of hers.

She can’t wait to meet you and have a small part in your quest for your best health. Let’s aim for progress, not perfection – together.
